MASSAGE STYLES & RATES

Massage Therapy is not JUST a way to relax. Therapeutic Massage is just one of the many components of self-care to help you achieve your best health and well-being.  There are many types of massage techniques to incorporate and not all massage sessions are created equally so let’s take a look so you are informed:

 â€‹

SWEDISH

The most well-known type of massage.  A Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension. Swedish Massage is best known for it’s smooth, gliding strokes called effleurage. The pressure used can range from light to firm.

MYOFASCIAL MASSAGE

A hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.  The goal is to lengthen, stretch, soften, loosen and unwind the tightness in the fascia causing muscle restrictions.

MASSAGE CUPPING

This ancient tool has found its place in the modern world of health care. By creating suction and vacuum pressure, the massage cups are then used to soften tight muscles, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. Massage cupping is incredibly versatile and the basic movements can easily be customized to accomplish a wide variety of techniques.

MOTHER

MASSAGE®

This gentle massage helps ease emotional ups and downs as well as aids in the unique physical challenges of pregnancy.  For your comfort, a support system of ultimate comfort will be used during your session. It's called BodyCushion™. The bodyCushion™ will alleviate pressure on the neck, breasts, and lower back. You will be able to lie safely and comfortably on your belly throughout your pregnancy, even in your last trimester. Just being able to lie face down will be such a relief you won't want to get up!  A MUST for every expecting woman!!!

DEEP TISSUE

This type of massage is aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused message as we work to release chronic muscle tension or knots. Deep tissue is usually done very slowly. The slower the movement, the more it penetrates to the deeper muscles. Deep tissue does not have to be painful. Some may feel some discomfort, but with good communication with the therapist, it can be an effective treatment without being very painful.
